What actually differs between padel balls
Less than the marketing suggests, and the differences that exist are real.

The thing nobody tells beginners: a padel ball goes dead long before it looks worn. The felt still looks fine and the bounce off the glass has dropped by a quarter. Read the per-tube column, not the price column. A £11.62 listing that contains three tubes is cheaper per ball than a £4.99 single tube, and the listings do not make that obvious.
1. Wilson Padel Rush 100 — £4.99, best value
Roughly 1,500 owner ratings averaging 4.6, at five pounds. Wilson has been the official ball supplier to Premier Padel since 2024, and the Rush is the club-level ball beneath that programme: consistent bounce out of the tube, felt that holds up for three or four sessions.
The same three-ball tube appears at £4.99 and £9.98 on the same day depending on the seller. Check both before buying.

2. Dunlop Pro Padel — £3.99, the cheapest that is still a real ball
704 ratings at 4.3, and Amazon UK’s category pick. Dunlop supplies the International Padel Federation, and the Pro is the accessible end of that range. It is a slightly firmer ball than the Wilson and goes dead a little sooner, which at four pounds is a reasonable trade.
Below this price you are into unbranded balls with two-figure rating counts. There is no reason to go there.

3. Head Radical — £11.62 for three tubes, the evidence pick
About 20,000 owner ratings averaging 4.5. That is not a typo, and there is nothing else in padel — racket, shoe or ball — with a verified sample of that size in the British market. Head is the volume brand at club level across Europe and this is the reason.
At £3.87 a tube it is also, per ball, the cheapest branded option on this page short of buying a carton.

4. Bullpadel Premium Pro — £9.95
2,100 ratings at 4.6. Bullpadel is the club standard across much of Spain and the Premium Pro is a noticeably livelier ball than the Head or the Dunlop — it comes off the glass faster and rewards players who like pace. On a cold British outdoor court in February, that is an advantage.

4.7 across 203 ratings, sold on durability: a denser felt that keeps its speed for longer. Worth it if you play three times a week and are tired of opening a new tube every session; unnecessary otherwise.

The ball used on the Premier Padel tour, 4.7 across 179 ratings. It is genuinely a better ball and it is genuinely not worth three times the price for a social match — the difference is consistency across a long match, which matters when the match is long.

7. The carton, if you play weekly
Head’s box of 24 tubes is £107, or £4.46 a tube against £8.24 buying the same balls singly. At one tube a fortnight that is a year’s supply and a saving of about £90.
The catch is storage. Pressurised balls lose pressure in the tube over months, so a carton bought in September is not the same ball in July. If you play less than weekly, buy singles.

Can you use tennis balls for padel?
You can hit one, but it is the wrong ball. Padel balls are slightly smaller and less pressurised — roughly 4.6 to 5.2 psi against about 6 psi for tennis — which is what keeps the bounce off the back glass playable.
How much do padel balls cost in the UK?
£4 to £6 for a tube of three from a recognised brand. Buying a carton of 24 tubes drops that to about £4.46 a tube.
How many balls come in a padel tube?
Three, in almost every case. Some brands sell packs of three tubes — nine balls — for roughly twice the price of one tube, which is where the value sits.
What is the difference between padel balls and tennis balls?
Size and pressure. Padel balls are marginally smaller and carry noticeably less internal pressure, so they bounce lower and travel slower. Everything else — felt, core, construction — is broadly the same.
Do padel balls need to be FIP approved?
Only for competition. For club and social play the approval makes no practical difference, and several unapproved balls in this comparison play perfectly well.
